Oh it's been warm. We have to shut the windows to keep in the chill that we've collected all night. Otherwise, it's quite sweltering!
Dave and the boys were in a small parade in Rockyford this morning. It was the start of their rodeo days and Dave was Don Quixote of course and the little patchwork vest boys were Sanchos and Paperboys. They got second place in the "youth" category because of the boys and Xavier and Sebastian Halterman.
I was in the crowd and ventured out to collect many lollipops for my boys between horse poo and flowered cars and a marching band.
It was funny for me to see such a tiny parade and then to have them circle the block and all come back through AGAIN! It makes sense I suppose, if you're going to all the effort anyway, to make it a longer walk.
I enjoyed seeing all the horses, and it was something to do.
I should be cleaning and mowing, but it's very hot. The boys are staying indoors and drawing, playing on the computer and listening to books. It's funny. We do venture out a little bit, but it almost feels like winter when we're trapped inside because of weather. Most of our shades are down and the light is off, so we also lose track of time.
Dave should be home soon and maybe they'll cool off in the pool.
My play is shifting slightly, but it's painful mental work to change and fix and change and fix... I hope to find more time on Monday/Tuesday.
I wish I craved vegetables.
Weston keeps wanting to pack for Oregon, but we don't leave until the 2nd.
Makes me want to pack too.
It strange. This is our first summer Saturday home and not in Drum for the Passion Play. No wonder he wants to travel.
Our friends the Hileman's just left town. They live in Jersey City and we'll miss them. The little girls didn't want to go.
What is it about staying home that makes you want to travel and what is it about traveling that makes you long for home?
We've sure had some beautiful sunsets lately, and it's been nice to be home. I hope I can enjoy it more before I have to leave again.
Well, thank God, we also have the hose, which serves well for making mud in the dirt patch and also washing the boys off in their skivvies.
