After our week at the beach and my time in Ashland we were in Eugene. I went every morning to Gutenberg College for classes (McKenzie Study Center where I first met Dave) and the boys spent their first week at camp. Day camp, that is, at Camp Harlow. I was worried they might get homesick or injured but they never complained. They were just tired every night! They loved the canteen (the camp store). Originally I didn't want to give them extra money to spend on candy and pop; I wanted them to eat the healthy lunches I so painstakingly packed to their individual likings each morning, but then I realized I needed to give them some at registration, if only so they wouldn't feel so left out and "neglected" when they saw other kids using the store to eat snow cones. So I gave them each and American five dollar bill. I had to laugh because there was a big purple five on the back! American money is looking more and more like the colored Canadian money they used to mock!

On the last Saturday, after camp, Cousin Matt and Grandpa helped the boys build birdhouses at the woodshop and then went over to Dave and Carol's for a barbeque and swim where my boys "walked on the water." Well, after swimming was done Dave and Carol pulled the cover over which could hold the boys' weight and they felt like Jesus. I loved it when Adam came out and serenaded us on his saxophone. I felt like a synchronized swimmer!
Then it was back home to pick wild blackberries and another movie night.
Grandpa helped Donovan draw some house plans (he says he wants to be an architect.) And then we had root beer floats. (Root beer is Donovan's new favorite drink, next to Orange Crush.) I think the boys will miss Grandma's favorite tv show Jeopardy, but more, they will miss being in Grandma and Grandpa's home and sharing good times.
