One day for Christmas... is that it?

Christmas came and now is done and snow is still sparkly and there is still a great sense of sleepy indulgence in the air.  Thankfully, the men did a bit of tobogganing  down Hamm Hill with the Hamm's so I could putz and pack.  We enjoyed a silly movie and some yummy leftovers, but we were just us.  Just the family... and although my conscience wondered about this arrangement, in the end, my common sense felt it was right.  I needed some peace and order after the gift opening ritual.  I was troubled about the boys mixed response to Santa, gifts, and not getting what either of them ordered from the big red man.  I don't know which conversation to have with them yet, but I trust Dave and I will have opportunity today during our long time of travel.  I'm nervous about so much flying, but here's hoping I can maintain a positive attitude and not get a headache.
In the end, I have to believe the boys had a fun day.  We started our final book in the Chronicles of Narnia: "The Last Battle" and it is so riveting!  Oooh, the conflict and the stakes are so high, it makes you glad/sad.  I can't help making some parallels to our world today; one that seems aching for restoration from abuse and greed.  --We'll take that book along on our travels, too.
I caught up on all the laundry (which took a long time) and Dave and the boys helped to change all the beds.  Not sure if I'll make it to cleaning out the fridge, but we'll try to leave the house in good shape.  -OH, a beautiful woodpecker just perched outside my window -- I can't believe it -- just like in the play where my character sees one out her window!  Ha ha.  It is beautiful and so startling in the sunlight with the blue sky and white snow.  Huh... well, just like the flash in the pan that Christmas is, that flash of red black and white was brilliant and sometimes all you need for a shift in perspective.
Sigh.  I hear Dave struggling with the boys... I need to sign off before he loses his mercy with them.  --Off to Oregon, my original home...
