Sunshine and Spring Fever

What is it about spring that makes one want to get dirt under their fingernails?  Donovan and Weston suddenly want to ride their bikes.  This is good.
Of course, now that I think about it, growing up in Oregon you could pretty much ride your bike all year long, so doing it in the spring wasn't a novelty.  But around here, the snow and ice just finally melted and the roads are ripe for riding!  'Course, Weston finally added his face warmer last night when even he had to admit it was getting chilling by 7:30pm!

The top picture is of the children's choir here in Rosebud.  They gave a show before the big concert yesterday.  It was funny and sweet.  They did a great job, and the boys and I got to sit right up front on the floor.  Which was great until my feet fell asleep and I had to finally straighten my legs out in front of me with Weston still on my lap.  --He's getting so big!  That whipper-snapper... he almost fills the whole tub when he lies down!
This is Holy Week around here and drama ministry has
yet another service to lead on Maundy Thursday evening.  After that, there are no shows on Good Friday, and then two on Saturday... so this is different schedule for me this week.  I hope I take some time to be mindful.
Weston had lots of outside time today and Donovan came home with some sun on his face too.  Even Dave got burnt.  We're out of eggs so I can't make peanut butter smooshies (cookies) which I'm craving.  The daylight is long suddenly and I'm glad Easter is coming.
Dave is at a read for a new play based on Robin Hood.  The boys found out he is reading the Sheriff of Nautingham and they sent him out the door in his boots with a play sword tucked in his belt and had him learn his Southern drawl off of the cartoon before he walked out the door.  'Course I thought he looked more like Bono.
Dave and I did get to watch another installment of Elizabeth Gaskell's North and South.  It's amazing!  I'm so m
oved and intrigued.  I haven't found characters this compelling in a long time.  I can't wait for tonight.  We're hoping to watch some more!
Well, I'm grateful for the sun and the energy it brings.  I actually raced alongside Weston in my rubber boots today as he road his bike.  I thought we were just going to check the mail when suddenly he swerved to the right.  "Where are you going?" I yelled.  "To Nathan's house" he cries over his shoulder, without slowing a tick.  So we trundled our muddy boots into Nathan's new house and found him upstairs vacuuming dust off his new floors.  It looks great.
Weston got shy.  But we got a nice tour and then went back to the mail.  Nothing interesting in there today.  But the outdoors held plenty of appeal.  Dirt.  Dirt.  And more dirt.  Weston came in from the piles beside Paul's house and gave me a hug.  One shake of his hair and my apron was full of bits of dirt.  That was it.  Into the tub.  Looks like baths and laundry are every day occurrences around here.  Well better that than staying inside all day.
I've got a queer stirring inside my belly too.
Must be spring fever.
