Dishes can wait.

Sunday
I've eaten some pretty tasty foods lately and with no regard to how my body will deal with them.
Yes.  It's that time of the month and my body simply craves it.  I toasted some walnuts, chopped them steamy warm in the Cuisinart with some butter, brown sugar, and flour and made the richest pie crust you ever did taste.  Yum.
Davey sang today.  Yes indeed.  Tenor soloist with a large choir and small orchestra alongside 3 other good friends here in Rosebud.
The boys and I played outside a good deal before the concert.  They dug in the dirt, had foot races, rode bikes, through rocks in the river off the bridge, and jumped on the trampoline.  Yes.  It was sunny!  During the concert Weston was so worn out he lay his head on my lap and nearly fell asleep.  His hair stuck straight up in front where the wind had pushed it against his bike helmet.  And of course he had Brown Bear's ear near his lips so his rosy cheeks and glazed eyes were all the picture of a sleepy summer day.  That's what it felt like.  For the first time in a long time!
We then had a fun spontaneous dinner/visit from three Troy Women with a commemorative cake!  Fun.  We had nachos and leftover spaghetti and fresh salsa (although without cilantro, so we used green peas, salad, cucumber and green olives!)
Weston did a little lemonade stand yesterday.  Brother Donovan made the 5$ sign!  Nonetheless, I couldn't stand the sight of him sitting out on the deck in his little chair just waiting for someone to walk by.  So we started calling some neighbors.  And the next thing we knew we were having a spontaneous feast.
Our house is the messiest it has been for weeks.  We still haven't recovered from our two shows opening and there is a lot of clutter and dust.  I would normally not invite people over in this state.  OK, maybe I would.  But only if they were in front of my face when the idea came.  And that's what happened.  Everybody pitched in and we ate... together.
Again today... the kitchen was still not cleaned, but it doesn't stop connecting with people.  If I wait for a clean house I will never have people over!
This morning drama ministry did the service again.  We used masks made by Royal Sproule to enact the triumphal entry with Jesus.  All the kids came pouring in singing "Jesus Loves the Little Children waving their little palm spears.  The whole church was decorated.  It was lovely.
They also did an interesting piece by Matthew Failes where the trial of Jesus was turned into a modern day with a crowd waiting for the moment of lethal injection.  It was powerful.
But this day is also very full.  Thankfully I now have boys sleeping heavily and we start another week.  --But those last few dishes are going to WAIT until Dave and I watch a little movie together on the couch.  Ahhhh.
