These are a few of the pics that Morris took of Lettice and Lovage. We're in our final week now. The sales have been terribly low overall, but the performances have been very good. Of course I'm exhausted after each one. It'll be hard to let go of this privilege wher I get to live outside my usual parameters, and let my soul show as large as it is. Lettice is so expressive and deeply passionate about the spirit of truth, I will miss her boldness. There just isn't room for it in many places. It has been great to exercise her full voice and body.
Things are already piled up waiting to rush in the theatre vacuum, but I don't want to let go yet. The audiences have really varied in their responses and numbers, so that has been unpredictable, but my journey of the story has remained a full concentration on a mental, physical and emotional clarity. It has been a big responsibility and now I'm sad to lay it down. I wish I could have done more somehow to encourage more people to come, but I only know so many people in this country. And then... some people just don't want to leave the comfort and ease of their televisions. Well, to those who came, and to those who have worked on it, and to all true enemies of the Mere...
a brimming goodbye to you!
