Reconnecting to the sound of rain...

Well.... I'm back.
What a beautiful week we had in Chemainus and Vancouver.  My oh my it was stunning.  Wonderful warm days at the beach with low tides and old friends.  The boys were so happy!  I highly recommend pulling your child out of school for nine days and traveling - even when your friends are not on vacation.  It was so stimulating to smell the fragrant flowers.  Right off the bat we were hit with vibrant rhododendrons and azaleas, and then the flowering trees, climbing flowers and roses.  Wow.  To some cold Albertans, it felt like stepping into summer!
Our first few days were in Langley and Walnut Grove: my old stomping grounds from University, but, oh, has it changed!  Everything is so developed.
These pictures were taken at Daryl and Renee Frayne's house.  The boys had a blast playing with Ian and Dylan and Patti and Magdy got to join us along with Lisa's husband James.  We had a wonderful time reconnecting.
The boys were pretty worn out by the time we reached North Van that night as we had spent 3 hours or more in a swimming pool that morning, played on a playground and walked about a mile to the Frayne's house from their school.  They loved it though.
James took good care of us in his apartment with snuggly beds and morning oatmeal and a ride to the ferry.  I was worried I wouldn't wake up in time cause I couldn't see my watch in the morning.  But I remember James saying he'd be up to shower so when I heard the water I thought it was 6:30.  But the water didn't stop... Finally I realized I was hearing rain spattering on pavement outside!  I hadn't heard that sound in so long!  In Rosebud we have gravel roads and there is usually thunder with the rain.  But this pitter patter was so soft and familiar... I thought it was the shower! Hours later I heard the real shower!
We took the morning ferry in the rain and I loved it.  The boys didn't want to stay up top deck for long, but I could have stayed there the whole crossing.  I loved being back on the West Coast!
....To be continued....
