Yes, the Olympics are happening in Rosebud. Inside, outside, every chance we get.
Last Sunday morning I woke up to Donovan creating medals out of a cereal box and he and Weston informed Dave and I that we were having Olympics outside after church.
So we braved the icy wind at the ice rink and competed in curling (slide the stone to hit the bucket) and figure skating (Weston and Donovan had to be helped by Daddy and Jonny to stay up) and two medal ceremonies (Leila and Weston won gold for team Canada) and a national anthem.
Then we went to the hill behind the community hall and had our sliding events: snowboarding (standing on sleds), luge (slipping down the steepest bank feet first on back), and bobsledding (two man).
It was great fun. Jonny and Jaden and Renita joined us and brought a couple of great sleds so we could take turns. The boys loved it and everyone was a good sport. It was fun to watch and give commentary like we were sportscasters; we even did a few interviews. Kendra joined us for a bit as Ekaterina, the Russian judge.
After all the medals had been handed out and my fingers and toes were aching with cold, we went to the Russell's for cookies and cocoa. Rielle even designed some Olympic rings cookies!
It was a good way to celebrate family weekend and inspire even more great Olympic watching on tv. I love live streaming! Now if only my work wouldn't keep getting in my way we could watch even more!
