It was dark and foreboding walking to the schoolbus with the boys, but now the sun is out and the sky is beautiful blue.
Today Donovan's class had a bake sale to raise funds for a special field trip next spring. I made 36 medium large molasses cookies and frosted them with cream cheese cake frosting. Dave loves 'em. Well, so do I. They're like the best of gingerbread only chewy. Dave is tickled by my secret ingredient: pepper! OK, so now it's not a secret anymore, but it gives all that sweetness a little kick in the pants.
Last night the boys couldn't wait for Halloween to dress up, they had to go for a night walk in their scary costumes.
Now why couldn't they go in for "cute" again this year? Look at them last year: Pickachu and Little Bozo... adorable! What do they insist on being this year? DEATH and his brother KILLER. Yes, that's right. It's cool to be small black and scary. They each have super cool Grim Reaper scythes and capes and hooded masks that only they can see through, and Weston even has a scary skeleton suit.
So there they were last night, silently stalking the town, no sound, just moving slowly and carrying big sticks. Dave took these pics on the middle of the highway! How would you like to come upon that sight in the middle of the night?
I told them they looked very scary and only a tiny bit cute. They liked that. I figure, I have to champion this somehow because they're so into it. They're into it as deep as burping, farting, and Captain Underpants. -So, here I am, the lone female trying to join 'em best I can. At least I know how to sample the Reese's we got to give out for Halloween. It finally comes down to: why give out anything else? Reese's is the best! Well, we do have a few Hershey's "Cookies-n-Cream" bars for those who may be allergic. Halloween is a very important holiday for my boys.
...I really have to get to writing soon, but it's amazing how many other things I'm getting done!
