So we had a wonderful Thanksgiving in Rimby with Alysa van Haastert and her family. We drove up on Sunday, stopped in Red Deer and stayed in their beautiful old farm house.
The next day (Thanksgiving) we went on a chilly walk down to a partly frozen river "Blindman's River" where the boys tried to break the ice with sticks and stones.
I enjoyed being in Alysa's cozy home. Her parents Chris and Anna were very hospitable and younger brother Kailen kept getting drafted to play with the boys. They had a good time.
We had a wonderful feast with Alysa's Oma and Opa and our tummies were quite satisfied.
I was only sorry our camera wasn't charged to take pictures.
Now that we're back, it's been nice to not have school today.
It's blustry and chilly out and the boys pulled out their old Thomas track and engines and have created the Island of Sodor throughout half the house! It's good to see them playing together. We got a dusting of snow this past week and some of it's still hanging around.
Dave and I are still pretty bagged so it's been good to have some evenings together. We finally finished the TV series Nathan gave us. Too many cliffhangers to not just get it done. It was fascinating. We had no idea television had got so sophisticated in our 13 years absence. It was like watching a highly produced movie.
So... we're now enjoying a day off without obligation. Ahhh...
Soon I will start rewriting my play.
I got some feedback last Saturday and now I'm ready to dive in and delete and rearrange, etc. It's a bit daunting and I find myself drawn to the mini Hershey's Kisses instead. God help me.
Weston is cracking me up. He loves to sing out his thoughts as he plays. "Oh here I come chug-chug-a-chugging up the track, with a clackety clack clack. Will you please put up the rail? Will you plee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ease put up up up up up the rail?" He's oblivious to how he sounds, it's just his way.
Donovan has continued to draw a lot of his thoughts and some of his cartoons have gotten quite violent. We've tried to put a limit on bloody computer games; they're beginning to surface in his drawings.
So, I really missed blogging this last week. I just couldn't sign in, but now Dave got it fixed.
I have one more night to veg... Ah... no alarm tomorrow!
