Oh we had some special sun and a day off today and David and the boys worked on the carrigana chair. Even Kai and Annika came and helped. We all found some cool naked branches off the pile and now Dave's just waiting for the drill to recharge before he can finish. Donovan ripped his pants and then I noticed Weston put a hole in the knee of his and his socks also have a hole. Dave and I ordered some clothes for the boys through Gymboree in the states and they should be waiting for Christmas in Oregon... but I don't know if Donovan can hold out until then. Ha. The guy is down to two pairs.
It was beautiful and crisp to be outside. Even Donovan seemed back to himself enjoying the sun, playing soccer, testing the bench, and finding old sunflowers.
It was Weston's idea to have a picnic. ('Course that's no surprise. He loves picnics.) But I can't remember having one in November.
We took a family picture with the timer function on the camera. I remember thinking, there's something blurry just to the right of my vision. Now I see: Dave's tall fuzz! Ha ha. That guy. His hair grows up!
Weston was doing a priceless dance up on the recycling bin and I wanted Dave to film him, but he started playing cat and mouse instead. It took a while for Dave and I to realize Weston truly did NOT want to be filmed. He was laughing one second and then really hurt and upset the next.
I recalled what he said the other day about asking Daddy to stop tickling him. "Even though I'm laughing my no still means no" he had said. We'll have to remember that.
So for now, I have a load of work to do, but it's nice to have a family day with sunshine. I'll sign off with a quote from Donovan: "Weekends. I'm so glad they exist."
