More birthday...for the budding artist

We extended Donovan's birthday yet again with a Reece's Peanutbutter cup ice cream cake from Dairy Queen. Some Rosebud friends joined in the celebration and we played "Whoppers" or "Two Truths and a Lie" with everyone around the table.
We had to go into Calgary the next day to return some sound equipment and Donovan fell in love with kid sized guitar and persuaded us that he wanted to learn to play it. We, of course, weren't sure about that investment, but he said he wanted to put his birthday money toward it, so we took him seriously. Not sure if he'll keep with it, but he did practice a bit with the dvd we got. So we rented it for now. We'll see a month from now.
Donovan is still busy with projects: a Pokemon movie/slide show on imovie, a whole world of "Exemon" characters (like Pokemon, only Donovan Snider originals), and now original playing cards. I think Donovan could stay inside all day and play on the computer or draw if he had his druthers.
I get that, sorta. Thank God for Weston who hears the call of the wild and gets us out in the fresh air more than we would without him.
So, here's to my creative visual artist son and to the balance we have as a whole family.
