Merfolk

I swam today.  Boy it's been awhile.  I love being surrounded by water.  I love going under with my goggles on and hearing only my bubbles sent skyward.  I love how my boys get so excited.  Weston nearly ripps up those stairs to the top of the slide.  He's so happy.
"Mom WATCH" he pleads as he pounds three times on the edge of the board.  I think: stop jumping, you're going to slip and gash your head!  But he is all smiles in his Hawaiian shorts, bumble bee yellow life jacket, and
reddish eyes.  Then he does jump and flails his four limbs as mightily as he can before he hits the water with a splash and comes up sputtering.  He gets a big grin and two thumbs up!
Meanwhile, Donovan has flipped in the rubber canoe and held on under water to come
up for air inside.  This is his new trick, and thanks to my trusty goggles, I can swoop under like a stealthy dolphin and see him do it and KNOW he's OK, even though he's trying to fool me.
The boys never eat so well as after a swim.  The boys never sleep so well as after a swim.  It does the family good.
I wish we had our own pool!
