Well Halloween rushed in with some stunningly beautiful and warm weather.
The decorations are all up and we're ready for the trick-or-treaters. All except Donovan, that is. He is uncharacteristically not eating sweets and asleep on the couch. Poor guy. He's got a bit of a fever and I'm afraid he may not feel up to going out and about later even though this is his second favorite holiday of the year.
He said between sips of water, "Mom, I don't like it when a holiday feels just like any other day." "I know, Donovan," I replied, "the older you get the more the holidays tend to feel that way. They kinda loose some of their magic. -But, you can also choose to make ANY day special by doing something unique or kind or fun!"
Thank God Weston is spry. He was under the weather last week, but today he was out and about in this glorious warmth playing hockey with a rubber ball and with a stick he made himself!
Dave and I help lead worship tomorrow with Lewis and Royal. It all is sort of sliding in on us now. We'll meet with them tonight and I trust we can pull it off tomorrow. Thank God for that extra hour!
We bought the original curly Fritos the other day and I ate too many at lunch with my soup - I can still taste them. I justified eating so many thinking we'd go buy more for the soup I need to make for tomorrow, but the plan to drive into town to shop got nixed when Donovan started to really droop.
The poor kid's been on the couch now for an hour and a half. -'Course, he was up at six, -the whippersnapper.
The boys did really well being good listeners for the Musical Theatre showcase today. It came off well and I think the audience was really impacted by some of the music and the story of RAGTIME. Dave and I have a lot of grading and evaluations to write, but this marks the half way point in our term and things will shift a bit now from teaching to other projects.
I can't get over how beautiful it is out there right now. The sky is so blue and the sharp autumn shadows make everything so clear. And it truly is WARM.
I just hope my little Donovan can cool down a bit to enjoy this night. Well, maybe he'll help pass out the peanutbutter cups while his little brother stalks the town.
We'll see...
